Marylebone LEN Study
Steer Davies Gleave's Design for Movement team was delighted to support the City of Westminster in a successful bid to secure £1 million of Mayoral funding to create a Low Emissions Neighbourhood (LEN) for Marylebone. The aim of the LEN is to help improve local air quality.
Our scheme focussed on measures to reduce vehicle emissions and simultaneously make improvements to the public realm. Proposals included tree planting, green walls, parklets and electric vehicle charging points to create a green spine along George Street; parklets, planters and planting on Marylebone High Street; rain gardens on Paddington Street; a pocket park outside Westminster University; as well as a series of complementary behaviour change measures.
In July 2016, the funding was awarded by the Mayor’s Air Quality Fund to the City of Westminster. It will be matched by Westminster City Council and private sector partners.
